What made you decide to start a business?

From the age of three, I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. It all started with a humble Kool-Aid stand, where my siblings and I joined forces to create a solution to a scorching summer problem: quenching people's thirst. That moment ignited my passion for creating solutions and strategies, and it set the stage for a lifelong journey of entrepreneurship. As I grew older, my interests evolved. From the age of 19 well into my 30s, I pursued my passion for event planning and became a skilled wedding planner, orchestrating unforgettable moments of joy and love. But my ambitions didn't stop there. Driven by my desire to connect people and brands, I ventured into the world of public relations, becoming a trusted publicist for both renowned brands and talented artists. Through my work, I discovered the power of effective communication and how it can transform businesses and individuals alike. Reflecting on my journey, I am grateful for that fateful day at the Kool-Aid stand when I realized my calling. The desire to be my own boss and help others navigate the world of entrepreneurship became ingrained in my very being. Now, armed with a lifetime of experiences, I am dedicated to sharing my expertise, inspiring others, and helping aspiring entrepreneurs bring their visions to life. My story is a testament to the transformative power of passion, perseverance, and the unwavering belief that anything is possible when you embrace your entrepreneurial spirit.

What advice would you give to a new entrepreneur?

1. Follow your passion and solve problems.

2. Build a supportive network of like-minded individuals to build your tribe.

3. Adapt to change and communicate effectively.

4. Embrace failure as a learning opportunity.

5. Stay strong, persistent, and seek support when needed.

Remember, passion, adaptability, resilience, and a supportive community are key to entrepreneurial success.

What has been the most challenging part of running a business?

The most challenging part about running a business, for me, is navigating the process of putting the right support systems in place, identifying the most effective avenues for growth, and knowing when to let go of certain strategies or ideas in order to pivot. It requires careful decision-making, adaptability, and a willingness to reassess and readjust as needed. Finding the right balance between holding on and letting go can be a formidable challenge, but it's essential for the long-term success and evolution of a business.

What about your business makes you most excited? What is your biggest accomplishment to date?

What truly ignites my excitement about my business is the incredible privilege of connecting with individuals and breathing life into their dreams and visions. Being able to guide and teach them effective strategies is immensely fulfilling. Witnessing their transformation and witnessing their dreams becoming a vibrant reality is an exhilarating experience that fills me with passion and joy. It's an honor to be part of their journey, and I'm truly inspired by the magic we create together.

What is a common misconception about your work?

I’d like to shed some light on a common misconception about my work. You see, I’ve always embraced being a ‘Gille of all trades’ and have a natural inclination for learning new things. Some people perceive my diverse skill set and willingness to explore different fields as a sign that I lack focus or expertise. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. As a Creative Vision Director or founder, I take pride in being hands-on and involved in various aspects of my organization. While I may not always be in the forefront, I find immense value in actively supporting and understanding each role within my team. This approach allows me to develop a comprehensive perspective and empathize with the challenges faced by every individual. Rather than being solely confined to a single position, my strategy revolves around gaining a holistic understanding of our operations. This enables me to formulate well-informed strategic plans and make informed decisions that consider the entire organization. So, when you see me lending a helping hand or seemingly working in multiple fields, it’s not a sign of confusion or incompetence. It’s a deliberate strategy to foster a strong foundation and facilitate effective leadership. Ultimately, I believe that being adaptable and knowledgeable across various domains empowers me to be a more effective leader and drive our organization towards success. So, let’s not mistake my versatility for a lack of expertise; it’s a strategic approach that benefits everyone involved.

What podcasts are you listening to?

“The Nicole Walters Podcast” and “Super Soul Sunday” provide inspirational and motivational content. “Jim Fortin” offers valuable insights for personal development, while “Date with Cents” focuses on financial matters. “Get Your Guy” explores dating and relationships, and “Social Proof” delves into social dynamics. Lastly, “Entreprenista” is a podcast for female entrepreneurs.

What is your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure revolves around the art of setting the scene: a cozy ambiance, a steaming cup of Earl Grey tea, a small bag of freshly popped movie popcorn, and the serenity of being alone in a movie theater. It's a rare treat to find myself at the cinema during a time when the crowds are scarce, leaving me with the luxury of sharing the space with only a handful of fellow moviegoers. With anticipation in the air, I purchase my tickets, feeling a sense of excitement and exclusivity. As the movie begins, I settle into my seat, clutching my warm cup of tea and savoring the salty goodness of the small bag of popcorn. With each bite and sip, I immerse myself in the story, laughing at the jokes, and relishing in the pure enjoyment of the cinematic experience. These solitary moments, spent in the company of laughter, caffeine, and the delightful crunch of popcorn, provide a respite from the demands of daily life and allow me to indulge in the simple pleasure of self-care and entertainment.
